Full-Service Leasing
In logistics, an equipment leasing arrangement that includes a variety of services to support the equipment such as maintenance, repairs, licensing, etc.

A communication link between two or more entities which is designed to be maintained continuously.

Fully Allocated Cost
The variable cost associated with a particular output unit plus a common cost allocation.

Functional Acknowledgement (FA)
An EDI transaction set (997) sent by the recipient of an EDI message to confirm data receipt but without indicating the recipient’s response to the message.

Functional Group
In EDI transmissions, it contains one or more related transaction sets preceded by a functional group header and followed by a functional group trailer.

Functional Silo
Organizational structure where a group or groups operate independently of other groups within the organization. The opposite of an integrated structure.

Graphical User Interface. A way to communicate with electronic devices through graphical icons, menu options, etc.

Gain Sharing
An incentive compensation agreement where supply chain partners share collectively in savings from productivity improvements.

Gate-In
Ocean freight term used to describe when a container enters the port terminal.

Gate-Out
Ocean freight term used to describe when a container leaves the port terminal.

Gathering Lines
Pipelines that transport gases and liquids from the source to a processing facility, refinery or a transmission line.

General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT)
A multilateral international trade agreement created in 1947 to expand trade, superceded by the World Trade Organization (WTO) that was established in 1995.

General Order (GO)
Imported goods either missing proper paperwork or not claimed within 15 days are classified by U.S. Customs as General Order (GO).

A common motor carrier with operating authority to transport general commodities, or all commodities not listed as special commodities such as hazardous.

General-Merchandise Warehouse
A facility used to store goods that are readily handled, are packaged or palletized, and do not require a controlled environment.

A space-based radionavigation system that helps pinpoint a three dimensional position to about a meter of accuracy. Used to track and locate equipment.
